Oh, my dear, dear, dear lady You are much, too much, and just too very, very To ever be in Webster's Dictionary And so I'm borrowing a love song from the birds To tell you that you're marvelous Too marvelous for words, Too beautiful for naked eyes. Light pales by your sight You are just so damned bright. I could just go on and on From dusk to dawn To rhapsodize your beauty and your brain Through sunshine and rain. I could say you are glorious, glamorous; I could even be amorous And crudely say I am falling in love, But I won't. I'd rather hide my feelings in this grove Of words. But don't let your head get too big. I talk like this all the time To all the pretty ladies I meet. I tend to exaggerate In order to inflame and inflate Their hearts So I could get an easy start. I don't know why I just added a qualifier, Why I set myself for failure When I do love you beyond measure. Anyway, the night is late, very late. In fact, dawn is about to break and I hate To go, but go I must For I need my beauty sleep. I surely will dream of you real deep, So deep that I will think you lie next to me So when I wake up, I'll tell thee "Hey, baby, thou knowst what? Thou art too marvelous for words, Too pretty for naked eyes Light pales by thy sight." Adapted from Johnny Mercer's "Too Marvelous for Words" Wissai/NKBa' October 20, 2011
